Our client is the UK’s leading distributor of catering equipment, supplying the largest range of light and heavy equipment available to UK caterers. With regional offices covering all of the UK, they have exclusive warranties on many heavy equipment products. Their team are highly experienced professionals, ensuring that the customer is always dealing with someone who has in-depth product knowledge and expertise.
They are now recruiting for a Sales Ledger Clerk to join their team based in Theale, Berkshire.
The Role:
The Sales Ledger Clerk will be responsible for accurate and timely transactional processing to our sales ledger, investigating and resolving anomalies as they arise, providing essential administrative support to the credit control team.
• Organise and monitor your workload to achieve benchmark processing deadlines & targets.
• Reconciliation of customer pre-pay accounts including matching, investigating anomalies & raising customer refunds bringing any areas of concern to your team leader’s attention.
• Identify & accurately post/allocate customer payments to the correct accounts within 24 hours of receipt recording the batch details in the excel cash book.
• Publish the bank statements detailing the cash received each day by 09:30 and update the cash forecast by 16:30 daily.
• Where partially allocated cash exists pass a copy of the customer remittance clearly identifying the anomaly to the credit controller responsible for the customer account on the day of posting, for investigation.
• Preparation of customer specific consolidated invoices and statements.
• Processing sales invoices via customer specific portals.
• Run monthly sales ledger customer statements.
• Furnish customers with copy invoices and/or proof of delivery when requested.
• Distribute customer invoices to the relevant credit controller daily.
• Process credit note requests within 48 hours of receipt after checking for suitable approval & potential duplication.
• Weekly, run the Unallocated Cash; Zero Value Invoice and Zero Balance reports matching items listed, where appropriate.
• Monthly 1:1 meeting with your team leader to review your progress against objectives; identify & address any knowledge gaps or training needs & discuss any process or system enhancements identified.
• When carrying out your duties, ensure that you adopt a professional manner & follow the guidelines defined in the company handbook, bringing areas of concern to the attention of your line manager.
• Undertake any additional tasks that may be reasonably required by your line manager or the business from time to time.
The Person:
The successful Sales Ledger Clerk will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
• Confident, analytical person with strong communication skills
• Ability to quickly and accurately assess information
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office & especially strong in Excel
• Previous experience in a sales ledger role would be beneficial, but is not essential as full training will be provided
