Mathematics and Chemistry Tutor (Higher, Adv Higher, Nat5)
Description
Hello my name is Fraser and I'm a fifth year Chemical Engineering student studying at Strathclyde University. During my degree I have covered Mathematics and Chemistry extensively. Mathematics and Chemistry are the backbone of any chemical engineering degree, so I have had prolonged contact with both over my years at University.
In addition during my school years I had a strong background with the sciences with attaining Advanced Higher Mathematics and Chemistry both in my sixth year, with Chemistry being studied at college during night classes. This dedication and passion for Mathematics and Chemistry along with friendliness and a patient approach is critical in being a successful tutor.
I have two years tutoring experience, helping students to attain Nat 5's and highers. In addition my work at university revolves around the need for sharp and precise explanation of complex subject matter. This I think would be critical skill in the tutoring of what are can be difficult subjects.
Secondly during school I was often assisting my peers with their subjects, either by working out an answer on the spot or the explanation of a specific problem area.
My approach to tutoring is establishing a strong foundation and building from there, by establishing where the problem areas are and by thorough explanation and use of examples, attempting to conquer the specific issue. Secondly this is reinforced by the issue of regular questions to complete. Finally once the time is appropriate the issue of exam style and past paper questions. I believe that regular issue of questions helps immeasurably in gaining confidence in the application of the theory and ultimately success.
